Are database connections and data transfers encrypted?
Yes. We use end-to-end encryption to ensure that your data remains secure and private at all times.
How does consulting pricing work - is it different from product pricing?
Consulting engagements start at $250/hour, scoped to your specific project, with no subscription or long-term contract required. This is separate from Sesame Software's product licensing, which uses a flat annual pricing model - one predictable rate regardless of how much data you move, with no surprises as your data grows.
What if I need to connect to an endpoint that isn't officially listed?
We support a Bring Your Own Driver (BYOD) capability. Using any standard JDBC driver and a simple template, you can connect to virtually any endpoint - even those not on our official list - without custom development work. If it needs more than that, our custom connections service can build it.
How are schema changes handled when source data changes?
Automatically. Our platform dynamically creates target tables and adds new columns whenever they're added to the source system. There's no manual data mapping required - schema alignment happens without any intervention from your team.
What is the difference between a replica and an archive?
A replica is a near real-time copy of your source data, continuously synced into a relational database for active use. An archive is data that has been moved and stored long-term - typically for retention policies, audits, or cost management purposes. Both serve different needs and can be used together, which is common in migration and consolidation projects.
How are user permissions and data access controlled?
Access is governed by customizable, role-based access controls - including Admin, Restricted, and Reader roles - so the right people have the right level of access. The platform also supports AD/LDAP authentication for organizations that require single sign-on.
What are the system requirements?
A Windows or Linux machine with at least 8 GB of RAM (16 GB preferred), Java 17, Apache Tomcat, and access to your data sources.
Is there a command line option?
Yes. Advanced users can run downloads, uploads, backups, schema checks, and more from the command line, with detailed logs and error messages plus built-in tools to help resolve common issues. Our support team is also available to help.
Do you offer a free trial?
Yes - a two-week free trial for on-premise deployments. It's typically installed during a live webinar where our support staff assist with initial configuration and training, so you're not starting from scratch on your own.
Is Relational Junction the same as Sesame Software?
Yes. Relational Junction was our former product name. All the same functionality you rely on - backups, replication, exports, connectors, and related tooling - now lives as the Sesame Software product suite. The underlying technology, support teams, SLAs, and contracts remain unchanged - only the name has changed.
